Sixteen Candles (1984)

The 1984 John Hughes film “Sixteen Candles” was filmed in the suburbs north of Chicago. The Baker house can be found in the town of Evanston, where the director also filmed scenes for “Uncle Buck” and “She’s Having A Baby.”

Rush Hour (1998)

The 1998 action comedy “Rush Hour,” starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, was filmed in Los Angeles, California and Hong Kong. Early in the film, Griffin, played by Tom Wilkinson, hosts guests inside the “Ennis House,” located in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. The house has been featured in countless productions, including “Blade Runner,” “House On Haunted Hill,” “The Day of the Locust,” “The Karate Kid Part III,” “Black Rain,” “The Glimmer Man,” “The Replacement Killers,” “Grand Canyon” and “The Thirteenth Floor.” It has also been recreated on studio stages for movies such as “Predator 2,” “The Rocketeer” and “Mullholland Drive.” It has likewise appeared in the TV shows “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Twin Peaks,” as well as countless other music videos and commercials.

The Chinese consulate where Han, played by Tzi Ma, stays can be found in Pasadena. The home, which is not visible from the street, has appeared in many other films, such as “Bridesmaids,” “Bowfinger,” “The X-Files,” “Action Jackson,” “Dinner for Schmucks,” “Scary Movie 2,” “Delirious,” “The Mechanic,” “Dead Again” and many more. It has also appeared in such TV shows as “Batman,” “Alias,” “Knight Rider,” “Murder, She Wrote,” “Westworld” and more.

The China Exposition scenes were filmed at the Los Angeles Convention Center.  Both the exteriors and interiors appear in the film, which the location playing a major part in the final act of the film.

LOCATION: 1201 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles, CA 90015

The Capitol Records building makes an appearance during a scene of Carter (Chris Tucker) and Lee (Jackie Chan) driving. It can also be seen in countless films, including “Once Upon A Time In… Hollywood,” “Calendar Girl,” “Get Him to the Greek,” “Nightcrawler,” “Freakier Friday” and many more.

Carter takes Lee to the famed TCL Chinese Theater in Hollywood. The theater has likewise appeared in countless films, such as “Twins,” “Valley Girl,” “Calendar Girl,” “The Aviator,” “Iron Man 3” and many more.

Lee and Carter visit this Chinese restaurant, located in Chinatown, Los Angeles.

The restaurant even has it painted onto the side of the building that the film was shot there.

The apartment of Johnson, played by Elizabeth Peña, can be found in West Hollywood. The same building has been featured in the films “L.A. Story,” “The Limey,” “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” and more.

South Pacific (1958)

The 1958 musical “South Pacific” was filmed in Hawaii. Early in the film, Joe Cable, played by John Kerr, is seen arriving on the island at Hanalei Pier, located in Kauai.

The beach appears in numerous scenes with the Seabees. The pier also appeared in the 1954 film “Beachhead,” while “The Descendants” also filmed scenes at the same beach.

There is a plaque in front of the pier, primarily noting a fundraiser to save and restore the pier in 2013, after it had suffered damage from a hurricane in 1992. At the bottom, the plaque acknowledges the film, stating, “The pier was featured in the movie South Pacific and became a location for many Hollywood productions.”

Children Of Men (2006)

The 2006 Alfonso Cuarón film “Children of Men” was primarily shot in England. The famous opening sequence, with the explosion at the coffee shop, was filmed on Fleet St in London.

Theo Faron, played by Clive Owen, is seen exiting the coffee shop and stopping in this area to add whisky to his drink.

The camera continues to a reverse view and the explosion is seen from this perspective. The building directly across the street from the coffee shop location has since been demolished, but the other buildings in the background still match up.

That Thing You Do! (1996)

The 1996 Tom Hanks film “That Thing You Do!” was shot in Southern California. The opening of the film is seen from Orange Circle, a popular shopping and dining area in Orange, California.

The Patterson’s Appliances store can be found there.

LOCATION: 129 N Glassell St, Orange, CA 92866

The Watson’s drug store and restaurant could be found in the same area. It also appeared in such films as “The Benchwarmers” and “The Stepford Children.” While the building is still there, it is no longer Watson’s.

LOCATION: 116 E Chapman Ave, Orange, CA 92866

The house where the band rehearses can be found in Pasadena. However, only the garage appears in the film.

LOCATION: 490 Prospect Blvd, Pasadena, CA 91103

The band performs at The Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, with their name appearing on the marquee.

Love Actually (2003)

The 2003 romantic comedy “Love Actually” was filmed in London, England. The famous scene where Mark, played by Andrew Lincoln, holds cue cards declaring his love for Juliet, played by Keira Knightley, can be found in Notting Hill. The location attracts many visitors.

2012 (2009)

The Roland Emmerich disaster film “2012” was filmed in numerous locations, including Canada, Washington D.C. and Los Angeles. The home of Jackson Curtis, played by John Cusack, can be found in Manhattan Beach, with the streets in front splitting open in the film.

Aloha (2015)

The 2015 Cameron Crowe film “Aloha,” starring Bradley Cooper and Emma Stone, was filmed in Hawaii. Much of the film, however, was shot around military bases inaccessible to the general public. One such example is when, early in the film, Gilcrest, played by Cooper, arrives in Hawaii at Hickam Field Base Operations, 800 Hangar Ave, Honolulu, HI 96818.

The Royal Aloha Hotel, where Gilcrest and Ng, played by Stone, stay was filmed at The Breakers Hotel in Waikiki. This is just off the main strip of Waikiki and the hotel is marked with no trespassing signs, so this is as close as we got.

Gilcrest and Ng are seen driving down Kalākaua Ave in Waikiki, passing Kaʻiulani Ave.

The house where Woody and Tracy, played by John Krasinski and Rachel McAdams, live is part of Hickam Field’s Fort Kamehameha housing development. It was originally built for Navy housing, but abandoned by 2008. The area remains military owned and closed to the general public. The house can be found at 22 Worchester Ave, Honolulu, HI 96818 (GPS coordinates: 21°19’20.6″N, 157°57’41.6″W).

King Kanahele’s house can be found at Waikupanaha St, Waimanalo, HI 96795 (GPS coordinates: 21°20’21.3″N, 157°44’49.5″W).

The area where Tracy gets food from a food truck with her son is just a parking lot. This is what the area looks like now.

LOCATION: N Nimitz Hwy, Honolulu, HI 96817 (GPS coordinates: 21°19’04.2″N, 157°52’43.5″W)

As they leave, a Global One truck passes in front of them. The buildings seen in the background align with what is seen in the film.

The holiday party scenes were filmed at the Historic Hickam Officers’ Club, 2000 Signer Blvd, Honolulu, HI 96818. This is another military location closed to the general public.

Ng and Gilcrest go on a date in the Chinatown neighborhood of Holonulu.

LOCATION: N King St / Kekaulike St, Honolulu, HI 96817

Ng can be seen jogging at Freedom Tower, 800-898 Manzelman Cir, Honolulu, HI 96818. This is part of Hickam Air Force Base and not open to the general public.

Ng confronts Gilcrest at the Waioli Kitchen & Bake Shop. Ng first enters from this area.

LOCATION: 2950 Manoa Rd, Honolulu, HI 96822

The two sit in this area, although the tables aren’t laid out the same way as seen in the film.

Ng is seen leaving from this area.

The two argue in the parking lot, with Ng driving away in this area.

Late in the film, Ng and Gilcrest, rushing to a black ops outpost, drive through this intersection.

LOCATION: N Pauahi St / Maunakea St, Honolulu, HI 96817

The are seen exiting a vehicle to a back room of the command center, which is actually just a grocery store.

LOCATION: 915 Kekaulike St, Honolulu, HI 96817

While never seen from this angle in the film, here is the general area they enter.

Gilcrest stands outside and watches Grace’s dance class.
