The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

The 1997 sequel “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” largely filmed around Northern and Southern California. Early in the film, Ian Malcolm, played by Jeff Goldblum, visits the home of John Hammond, played by Richard Attenborough. The interiors of Hammond’s house were filmed at Mayfield Senior School, a private Catholic high school for girls, located in Pasadena. The same location has appeared in many films, such as “Sneakers,” “Devil In A Blue Dress,” “Matlida,” “Legally Blonde,” the 1996 remake of “The Nutty Professor,” “The Cutting Edge,” “All About Steve,” “The Good German,” “State Of Play,” “The Shadow” and many more. It has also appeared in such TV series as “Ray Donovan,” “The Incredible Hulk,” “NCIS,” “Runaways” and more.

Late in the film, the escaped T-Rex drinks water from the pool at the back of this home in Granada Hills.

The T-Rex rampages through what is supposed to be San Diego. The scenes were actually filmed in Burbank.

The T-Rex is seen eating a man in the same area.

The gas station where Ian and Sarah Harding, played by Julianne Moore, catch up with the T-Rex can be found back in Granada Hills. It has since been remodeled, but we managed to visit it while it still appeared similar to how it did in the film.

The Town (2010)

The 2010 Ben Affleck film “The Town” tells the story of a group of Boston bank robbers.  The filmmakers utilized some iconic Boston landmarks as recurring images throughout the film.  The opening shot is of the Bunker Hill Monument, located in the Charlestown neighborhood of Boston, which is where the film’s central characters are from.  The monument was built to commemorate the Battle of Bunker Hill.

Another iconic Boston landmark seen in the film is the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge, often referred to as the Zakim Bridge or Bunker Hill Bridge.  It too is located close to Charlestown.

The exterior of opening bank robbery in the skull masks takes place at the Cambridge Savings Bank in Cambridge, Massachusetts, located in Harvard Square, directly across the street from Harvard University.  The filmmakers had to use an alternate bank, the East Boston Savings Bank in Melrose, MA, for interior scenes.

Later in the film, as the robbers are dressed in nun costumes, they get boxed in at this intersection, where they engage in a shootout with police, before taking off down the surrounding, narrow corridors.  Here we take a look at the intersection from a few different angles.
