The 2017 George Clooney film “Sububicon,” starring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore, was filmed in Southern California. In the opening scenes, a book is shown depicting the formation of the Suburbicon community. The Suburbicon Shopping Mall is part of the Valley Plaza in North Hollywood, which has been featured in countless productions, such as “Captain Marvel” and “Too Old To Die Young.” The actual building has long been vacant.

The Mayers familys family moves into this home in Fullerton, which causes a stir with the racist neighbors in 1950s suburbia.

Gardner and Rose Lodge, played by Damon and Moore, live in this home, which is supposedly located back to back with the above home, but can actually be found over in Carson.

The 1994 independent classic “Clerks,” which famously launched the film career of Kevin Smith, was shot near his hometown of Highlands, New Jersey. The story of “Clerks” is well documented, with Smith financing it via personal credit cards and eventually being accepting into the Sundance Film Festival, ultimately landing national distribution. As you might imagine for a film with such humble beginnings, the locations are all within a short distance of one another.
At the beginning of the film, Dante, played by Brian O’Halloran, is called into work on his day off to cover another employee’s shift. Here is the home of Dante, which still mostly resembles how it appeared in the film.

The most iconic location is of course the Quick Stop Groceries, where most of the film takes place. At the time of filming, Smith worked at the store and the owners allowed him to film at night, while the business was closed. The store is quite a popular destination, attracting fans on a daily basis. The staff is quite welcoming to fans and allow you to take as many pictures as you’d like, both inside and outside of the store, so we highly recommend a visit.

With the expansion of Smith’s “View Askewniverse,” in which characters from multiple films existed within the same cinematic universe, Quick Stop Groceries would appear in many more Smith films over the years, including “Mallrats” (extended cut only), “Chasing Amy,” “Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back” and of course the sequels “Clerks II” and “Clerks III.”
Here is the main checkout counter, where Dante spends much of the film. Overall, the interior hasn’t changed much since filming took place.
Randall, played by Jeff Anderson, makes his famous entrance here.
The back of the store appears in multiple scenes, such as the man picking through the eggs, the woman (played by Smith’s mother) checking all the expiration dates on the milk and Caitlin Bree having sex in the bathroom.
Randall works at the RST Video, which is located right next door to the Quick Stop. This is also where Jay and Silent Bob, played by Jason Mewes and Kevin Smith, hang out for most of the film. The interior of this area is not open to the public at this time.

After Dante learns one of his exes has died, he and Randall attend the wake at this funeral home.

The 1996 dark comedy thriller “Freeway,” starring Reese Witherspoon and Kiefer Sutherland, was shot in Southern California. In the film, Vanessa Lutz, played by Witherspoon, lives at this motel with her mother, Ramona (Amanda Plummer) and stepfather, Larry (Michael T. Weiss).

Vanessa is depicted as living in the left unit of this building at the back of the property.
After Vanessa’s mother is arrested in a prostitution sting, a social worker attempts to take her away. Vanessa instead handcuffs the worker to a bed and escapes. The location is not in the safest of areas, so we recommend using caution if you visit in person.
After Vanessa’s car breaks down on the freeway, she is picked up by Bob Wolverton, played by Sutherland. Later, Bob and Vanessa walk at night at Point Fermin Park in San Pedro. They stop next to the Point Fermin Lighthouse, where Vanessa discusses her past trauma. The same lighthouse can be seen in the film “(500) Days Of Summer,” as well as the TV shows “MacGyver” and “Amazing Stories.” It is also located near the Korean Bell of Friendship from “The Usual Suspects.”

The home of Bob Wolverton and his wife, played by Brooke Shields can be found at 17149 Nance St, Encino, CA 91316, but the property has since been remodeled. Thanks to an anonymous reader for sending this info.
The 1990s skating classic “Airborne” was primarily filmed around Cincinnati, Ohio and just across the Ohio River into Kentucky, with a few additional scenes filmed in Southern California. In the film, Mitchell Goosen, played by Shane McDermott, uproots from his Southern California home to Cincinnati to stay with his cousin’s family, while his parents work abroad. His cousin is Wiley, played by a young Seth Green. Wiley’s home can be found in the town of Newport, Kentucky, which is just a short distance away from Cincinnati over the state border.

Wiley’s house is mostly seen in brief glimpses from a side angle, but here is a full view of the home.
Mitchell begins attending school at Western Hills University High School, where he struggles to fit in with the other boys, but catches the interest of a girl named Nikki, played by Brittney Powell.

Mitchell ends up taking Nikki on a date to the Krohn Conservatory in Cincinnati. Mitchell skates around inside the conservatory, which hasn’t changed all that much since filming took place. The property does charge an admission fee, but is open to the public.

Mitchell and Nikki end up on another date along the riverfront of the Ohio River, with the John A. Roebling Suspension Bridge and Cincinnati skyline in the background. This area is known as Covington Plaza, but it has been remodeled a bit and the area where the characters stand in the film was actually off to the left of Covington Plaza. The same location appears in the film “The Killing of a Sacred Deer.”

Mitchell and Wiley go on a double date at this restaurant in Newport, Kentucky, where Nikki’s brother Jack, played by Chris Conrad, spoils their evening. Outside, Mitchell and Wiley get into an argument. Inside, there is a sign for the film, featuring autographs from the cast and crew, but it was closed at the time of our visit. The same restaurant was famously featured in the film “Rain Man.”

The parking lot hockey game, where Mitchell finally wins over his classmates, was filmed at the Longworth Hall Parking Lot in Cincinnati.

This climax of the film is when Mitchell’s classmates are challenged by a rival crew to an inline skating race down what is known as “Devils Backbone.” While there is a real Devils Backbone Rd in Cincinnati, the version seen in the film is a composite of multiple roads scattered around Cincinnati and Kentucky. The race first begins on the street in front of 7012 Springdale Rd Cincinnati, OH 45247 and continues past this intersection.

The Simms Funeral Home from the 1995 horror anthology from “Tales From the Hood” can be found in the historic Angelino Heights neighborhood of Los Angeles, California.

Duke Metger, played by Corbin Bernsen, plays a racist running for governor. Duke’s home was filmed at the Banning House in Wilmington, California. Built in 1863, the property was also seen in the 1992 Danny Aiello film “Ruby,” as well as 1998’s “Primary Colors” and the TV shows “Quantum Leap” and “Bronk.” The house currently operates as a museum and is open the the public.
The 1996 holiday comedy “Jingle All the Way,” starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, was primarily filmed around Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, with a few additional scenes filmed around Southern California.
The opening “Turbo Man” sequence takes place at Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce, California. Countless films have also shot scenes at Vasquez Rocks, including “The Flintstones,” “Dante’s Peak,” “Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back,” “Starship Troopers,” “Hail, Caesar!,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Paul,” “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey,” “Hell Comes to Frogtown” and dozens more. Television shows which featured Vasquez Rocks in episodes include “The Fugutive,” “The A-Team,” “MacGuyver” and perhaps most famous of all, the original “Star Trek” series, where the rocks were seen in numerous episodes, serving as multiple different planets. The rocks are part of a Natural Area Park and open to the public from sunrise to sunset.

After running out of gas, Howard pushes his car to Mickey’s Dining Car. Only the exterior was used in the film, the interior scenes were built on a set. The same diner has been seen in the films “The Mighty Ducks,” “D2: The Mighty Ducks,” “D3: The Mighty Ducks” and “A Prairie Home Companion.” At this time, the diner is closed indefinitely, but it is rumored to potentially reopen sometime in 2022.
The 1993 American remake of the French-Dutch film, “The Vanishing,” starring Jeff Bridges, Kiefer Sutherland and Nancy Travis, was filmed in around Washington and Southern California. In the film, Jeff Harriman, played by Sutherland, lives with his girlfriend Rita, played by Travis, at this apartment complex, located in Seattle.

The unit where the characters live in the film is apartment 20.
The property still generally looks the same as it did in the film.
In the 2014 film “The Gambler,” Jim Bennett, played by Mark Wahlberg, lives in this home, located in Benedict Canyon, Los Angeles. The house is slightly tricky to find. N Beverly Glen Blvd is a very busy street and there’s no immediate spot to turn once you reach the house. Instead, you actually turn near 795 N Beverly Glen Blvd, which looks like a private driveway, but actually has a path that leads up to several other homes, including this one. There’s also a foot path that leads up. The other homes tucked away in this little area are also very interesting.

The 2004 Kevin Smith film “Jersey Girl,” starring Ben Affleck, was primarily filmed in Paulsboro, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New York City, New York. The majority of the film’s exteriors were filmed in Paulsboro, while many of the interiors were shot across the Delaware River in Philadelphia.
Ben Affleck plays Ollie Trinké, a successful publicist in New York City. Ollie brings his new love Gertrude, played by Jennifer Lopez, to meet his father Bart, played by George Carlin. Later Ollie moves into the home with their daughter Gertie, played by Raquel Castro. Arguably the central location of the film, Bart’s home is located in Paulsboro. The house beside it has since been demolished, but thankfully the Trinké house remains mostly unchanged. Most of the house interiors were sets built in Philadelphia.

Ollie’s New York City apartment seen early in the film overlooks Central Park in New York City. Later Ollie brings his daughter to the city and points out the apartment to her.

Smith did shoot a bit of material around his frequent stomping grounds. The scene where Bart tells Ollie he can’t watch the baby because he’s busy driving a street sweeper was filmed at the corner of Highland Ave / S Bay Ave, Highlands, NJ 07732. This is just a couple blocks away from Smith’s real childhood home, which also served as a filming location for Randall’s house in “Clerks II.”
The Hard Rock Cafe, where Ollie loses his temper at a room full of press, was a composite of two locations. The exterior was the former Hard Rock on W 57th St in New York, which has long since closed and been completely remodeled. The interiors were filmed at the Hard Rock in Philadelphia (1113 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19107).

Mub & Renee’s Video Blast is the video store where Maya, played by Liv Tyler, works. This was built in a shopping plaza on W Broad St in Paulsboro, which was empty at the time of filming.

Here’s a closer look at where the video store would have been. It has obviously changed a bit since filming, as the space was incorporated into the store next to it.
Ollie takes Gertie into New York City to see a Broadway performance of Sweeney Todd. Afterwards, the two talk at Gapstow Bridge in Central Park, where Gertie asks questions about her mom. Gapstow Bridge was also featured in “Home Alone 2: Lost In New York.”

Ollie has lunch with Maya at the Berlin Diner in Berlin, New Jersey. This location is about a 30 minute drive from Paulsboro, so it’s a bit out of the way if you’re visiting the filming locations, but still looks nearly identical to how it appeared in the film.

David Lynch’s 1977 directorial debut “Eraserhead” was shot around Los Angeles, California. The majority of the film was shot around the stables of the famed Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills. The stables are separate from the main house and the building sits much closer to the road. The property was leased at the time by the American Film Institute, which partially funded the film. Now known as the Carriage House, Lynch actually lived in the stables for a time during production. During the opening of the film, The Man in the Planet, played by Jack Fisk, is seen moving levers in a room by a window. This scene was filmed in an upstairs room inside the stables.

Henry Spencer, played by Jack Nance, begins his walk home through this tunnel, located in Downtown Los Angeles. Lynch returned to this area, shooting mere blocks away for some scenes in “Wild At Heart.”

The construction site Henry walks though on his way home was shot on what would become the Beverly Center, a large shopping mall near Beverly Hills and West Hollywood. The entire area obviously looks much different now.
