Pieces from the oval office set of the television series “The West Wing” can be found on the Warner Bros. lot as part of their studio tour.
LOCATION: 4000 Warner Blvd, Burbank, CA 91505
Some props from the show are also on display on the Warner Brothers Studio Tour. Here is C.J Cregg’s fishbowl and President Jed Bartlet’s campaign napkin.
In the early 1990s, in an effort to capitalize on the popularity of “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Aaron Spelling’s production company introduced a second series into the 90210 universe, known as “Melrose Place.” The show inhabited the same universe, with characters overlapping for special guest appearances. The original series ran from 1992 to 1999.
The famous apartment building from the show was supposedly located at 4616 Melrose Place in Los Angeles. It turned out the producers made just a minor change to the real apartment’s address, which is located at 4616 Greenwood Place, in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles. The building is known as the El Pueblo Apartments. There is also a real Melrose Place in West Hollywood, but you won’t find much there besides some commercial businesses on a short street.
As for the courtyard and interiors seen in the show, those were filmed on a sound stage. There is no pool at the actual El Pueblo location and if you head past the front gates, you’ll quickly realize the rest of the building bears little resemblance to the show.
LOCATION: 4616 Greenwood Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90027
Several houses were used for the filming of the 1980s sitcom “Mama’s Family,” starring Vicki Lawrence. In the first two seasons, the house seen in the establishing shots was actually located in Kansas City, Missouri (18 W 59th St, Kansas City, MO 64113). However, for exterior shots where the cast was required to be on location, a second home was utilized in Pasadena, California, much closer to where the show taped.
LOCATION: 675 S Oakland Ave, Pasadena, CA 91106
However, the home most commonly associated with the series, used in seasons 3 through 6, as well as syndicated episodes, is this third house, located not far from the second, in South Pasadena, California. The home is actually located just two doors down from the shrubs Michael Meyers famously stood at in the original “Halloween.” The “Mama’s Family” house can even be seen in a couple shots in the film, if you look closely at the background.
LOCATION: 1027 Montrose Ave, South Pasadena, CA 91030
The house from the TV sitcom “The Golden Girls” is unique for a couple reasons. First, despite being off the air for over 25 years, the house still looks almost virtually identical to how it appeared on the show. Secondly, a full scale replica was actually built in Florida on the backlot of the now-defunct Disney/MGM Studios. While the replica has long since vanished, the original is still standing strong in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Brentwood, California.
LOCATION: 245 N Saltair Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90049
The short-lived, but well remembered 90s TV drama “My So-Called Life,” where Claire Danes and Jared Leto got their starts, was set in the suburbs of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, as is the case with so many films and TV series, the house seen in the show was actually based in Southern California. It can be found in South Pasadena. The house was also used in Rob Zombie’s 2007 remake of “Halloween.”
LOCATION: 1110 Glendon Way, South Pasadena, CA 91030
Arguably the most famous donut shop in movies, Randy’s Donuts has been featured in countless television shows and films. Robert Downey Jr. famously sat inside the building’s giant donut hole in “Iron Man 2.” Even “The Simpsons” famously depicted a donut shop in their fictional town of Springfield, which strongly resembled Randy’s Donuts.
There are actually several donut shops which use the giant donut atop a drive-thru, however Randy’s is by far the most well-known of the bunch. The building was built in 1953 and has been going strong since. It’s been seen in such films as “Get Shorty,” “2012,” “Crocodile Dundee In Los Angeles,” “Dope” and “The Golden Child,” as well as television shows such as “Californication,” “Arrested Development,” “Entourage” and many more. It’s worth mentioning as well that their donuts are quite good!
LOCATION: 805 W Manchester Blvd, Inglewood, CA 90301
While set in the town of Ossining, New York, Don Draper’s house from the TV series “Mad Men” is located in Pasadena, California. It’s actually right around the corner from the house from the movie Father Of The Bride.
Despite the show’s name, very little of “Beverly Hills 90210” was ever shot in Beverly Hills.
The Walsh residence can actually be found in Altadena, California.
LOCATION: 1675 E Altadena Dr, Altadena, CA 91001
The cast attends “West Beverly High,” which was also filmed far from Beverly Hills at Torrance High School, down in Torrance, California. The same school was used on the TV series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and the film “She’s All That.”
LOCATION: 2200 W Carson St, Torrance, CA 90501
Another shot of the school seen frequently on the show.
A few different locations served as the famous “Peach Pit” on the show. In the first season, several episodes depicted the restaurant at this West L.A. restaurant.
LOCATION: 10801 Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064
However, production switched to this Venice location for the remainder of the season.
LOCATION: 1027 Abbot Kinney Blvd, Venice, CA 90291
The most well-known location for the “Peach Pit,” used from the second season onward, can be found in Pasadena. The building has hosted a variety of restaurants since filming ended and no longer bears much resemblance to how it appeared on the show.
LOCATION: 45 S Fair Oaks Ave, Pasadena, CA 91105
If that wasn’t enough Peach Pit for you, in 2019, a special pop-up version surfaced in Los Angeles, which has since closed. The same location was previously used as a pop-up for “Twin Peaks.”
Dylan, played by Luke Perry, lived at this house in Altadena. It’s located just a few houses down from the Walsh residence.
LOCATION: 1605 E Altadena Dr, Altadena, CA 91001
Steve’s house can be found in Encino. The house was also seen in the films “Ghost In The Machine” and “The Dentist.” Trees in the yard are making the front of the property increasingly difficult to see from the road.
LOCATION: 16711 Bosque Dr, Encino, CA 91436
Andrea’s house was formerly located at 540 N Gramercy Pl, Los Angeles, CA 90004, but the houses on this block have since been demolished and replaced by an apartment complex.
Kelly and Donna’s beach house can be found right along the walkways of Hermosa Beach. The same property was featured in the 1980s comedy “My Stepmother Is An Alien.” It’s quite a nice area to visit, even if you’re not a fan of the show.
LOCATION: 3500 The Strand, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
