Looper (2012)

The 2012 Rian Johnson film “Looper,” starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Bruce Willis, was shot around New Orleans, Louisiana, with additional filming in Shanghai, China. The electrical plant seen throughout the film was shot at the Market Street Power Plant in New Orleans. The building has sat vacant since the 1970s, but it is now fenced off and access is prohibited to the public.

The diner was built specifically for the film about 90 minutes away from New Orleans, near the intersection of Oakley Rd / Hwy 1010, Napoleonville, LA 70390 (GPS coordinates: 29°52’24.9″N, 91°00’56.4″W). It has since been demolished and is now just an empty plot of land.

Joe picks up Seth, played by Paul Dano, in front of this building. In the film, a mural is seen painted on the garage door on the right.

This building served as the exterior to the La Belle Aurore club.

LOCATION: 245 S Rampart St, New Orleans, LA 70112

The area to the right of the building was also seen in the film as the parking lot.

Joe’s apartment can be found in on Picayune Pl, which runs between Gravier St and Natchez St. The actual apartment space seen in the film was added by the production above the building in the center of the photo below. All of the surrounding areas are all real locations, however.

Picayune Pl has appeared in many other films, including “Miller’s Crossing,” “Hot Tub Time Machine 2” and “The Lovebirds.”

In one scene, Old Joe, played by Bruce Willis, can be seen firing a gun in front of this door, located just a couple doors down in the same alley.

The farmhouse where Sara, played by Emily Blunt, lives with her son Cid, played by Pierce Gagnon, can be found in Napoleonville, the same town where the diner was built. Unlike the diner, the farmhouse still stands today, albeit seemingly vacant.

LOCATION: Oakley Rd, Napoleonville, LA 70390 (GPS coordinates: 29°52’27.6″N, 91°00’41.3″W)

The ending of the film was shot just down the road to the right of the farmhouse (GPS coordinates: 29°52’30.7″N, 91°00’03.5″W), but the fields were fully grown during our visit, so we couldn’t match any of the images.
