Seven Psychopaths (2012)

The 2012 Martin McDonagh ensemble film “Seven Psychopaths” was filmed around Southern California.  The opening scenes were filmed at the Mullholland Dam in Hollywood.  The dam is accessible to the public, however, it does require a minor walk to reach it.  You have to drive up Weidlake Drive and the nearest parking is at the Hollywood Reservoir Trailhead.  From there it’s just a short distance on foot. The same location was featured in the film “The Little Things.”

Billy, played by Sam Rockwell, lives at this house perched on a hillside in Angelino Heights in East L.A.  The same house was seen in the Kirsten Dunst film “Crazy/Beautiful” and located just around the corner from Jake Gyllenhaal’s apartment in the film “Nightcrawler.”  The home has unfortunately since been demolished.

  1. The house at 1016 White Knoll Dr. was also featured in the 2016 film “Get A Job” starring Miles Teller and Anna Kendrick.

P.S. – I only know this because “7 Psychopaths” is arguably my favorite movie of all time, and Billy Bickle is by far my favorite supporting character to date (with Stevie Janowski from East Bound and Down being a close 2nd 🤣), so this house is engraved in my mind lmao

  2. The street sign at the corner above the house was changed for the film. If you use slomo you’ll see that it was changed to something like the corner of “Blocked” and “Writer”. A pretty cool inside joke!
