JFK (1991)

The 1991 Oliver Stone film “JFK” was shot in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dallas, Texas and Washington, D.C. Early in the film, Jim Garrison, played by Kevin Costner, watches the events unfold surrounding the assassination of JFK from this bar.

This home, located in the Garden District, served as the home of Jim Garrison.

Jim walks through Lafayette Square, where he meets up with Bill and Lou, played by Michael Rooker and Jay O. Sanders respectively, in front of Galler Hall, which also appears in such films as “Bill & Ted Face The Music,” “Interview with the Vampire,” “Miller’s Crossing,” and “Runaway Jury,” as well as the TV show “NCIS: New Orleans.”

Jim and his team visit the former office of Guy Bannister, played by Ed Asner. This really is within walking distance from the above location, as depicted in the film.

Jim and his team then visit the John Minor Wisdom United States Court of Appeals Building Fifth Circuit, which appears as a post office and former Office of Naval Intelligence. This too is within walking distance of the previous locations, as depicted in the film.

She’s Having A Baby (1988)

The 1988 John Hughes film, “She’s Having a Baby” was primarily shot in Illinois. However, early in the film Jake and Kristy Briggs, played by Kevin Bacon and Elizabeth McGovern, are seen spending their honeymoon driving across the Rio Grande Gorge Bridge in El Prado, New Mexico. The bridge is far removed from most tourist destinations, requiring hours of driving through mountains and winding terrain to reach it. Once you’re there, however, it’s instantly recognizable. The same bridge appeared in the films “Natural Born Killers,” “Twins,” “This Must Be The Place,” “Wild Hogs,” “Vacation,” “Paul,” “Terminator: Salvation,” “The Signal,” “Catchfire” and “White Sands.” It gets extremely windy on this bridge, so much so, you can feel the vibration on the bridge as you stand on it.

The Briggs house can be found in Evanston, Illinois, where Hughes also shot scenes for “Sixteen Candles” and “Uncle Buck.”

Planes, Trains & Automobiles (1987)

The 1987 John Hughes film “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” filmed scenes in Illinois, New York and Missouri. The home of Neal Page, played by Steve Martin, can be found in Kenilworth, about 30 minutes north of Chicago.

Late in the film, Neal and Del Griffith, played by John Candy, can be seen walking together in the reverse view, down Warwick Road, as they approach the house.

After being pulled over by a cop, Neal and Dell’s car is seen being towed in from of the Old Courthouse Arts Center in the town of Woodstock. The same location appears in the film “Groundhog Day.”

Footloose (1984)

The 1984 film “Footloose,” starring Kevin Bacon, was filmed in Utah. The church where Shaw Moore, played by John Lithgow, is reverend can be found in the town of American Fork, about 40 minutes south of Salt Lake City. The reverend’s home was formerly located across the street, but has since been demolished, with a shopping plaza now in its place.

One of the central locations of the film is the mill where Ren, played by Kevin Bacon, works. It can be found in the town of Lehi. While the building itself hasn’t changed much since filming took place, the surrounding area has changed significantly, with roads and businesses now surrounding it.

Wild Things (1998)

The 1998 thriller “Wild Things,” starring Matt Dillon, Neve Campbell and Denise Richards, was filmed in Florida. In the film, Kelly Van Ryan, played by Richards, lives at this home with her mother Sandra, played by Theresa Russell. The front of the house is seen when Sam Lombardo, played by Dillon, gives Kelly a ride home.

LOCATION: 40 E Star Island Dr, Miami Beach, FL 33139

The house can be found on the famed Star Island in Miami Beach. While Star Island isn’t technically private, it does have a guarded entrance and you’ll have to speak with the guard in order to gain access. However, there are many boat tours that will take you around the island. Just disregard their information about filming locations, as most of it is fabricated and incorrect. In one scene, Kelly can be seen standing near the water in this area skeet shooting.

Kelly gets into an altercation with Suzie Toller, played by Campbell, at the pool. The two then proceed to have sex in the pool while Sergeant Ray Duquette, played by Kevin Bacon, secretly videotapes them.

Sam is accused of rape and stands on trial at the Dade County Courthouse.  The building was also seen in the 1981 Sydney Pollack film “Absence of Malice” and the 1995 action film “Bad Boys.”

Apollo 13 (1995)

The 1995 Ron Howard film “Apollo 13” was filmed in Florida, Texas and California. The house of Jim and Marilyn Lovell, played by Tom Hanks and Kathleen Quinlan, can be found in Northridge, California.

Marilyn loses her wedding ring in the shower of this motel, supposedly located in Florida.  The real motel, the Safari Inn, is actually located in Burbank, California.
