Short Circuit (1986)

The 1986 sci-fi comedy “Short Circuit” was filmed in Oregon, Washington and California. The house of Stephanie, played by Ally Sheedy, can be found in Astoria, Oregon. Astoria is well known for many iconic filming locations, such as “The Goonies,” “Kindergarten Cop,” “Free Willy” and more. The house overlooks the Astoria-Megler Bridge, which is featured in another scene where the robot Number 5 is pushed by a military vehicle and falls off the bridge, leading him to meet Stephanie.

The climactic confrontation with NOVA takes place at the iconic Vasquez Rocks in Agua Dulce, California. The rock formation has has been featured in countless films, such as “Dante’s Peak,” “Jay And Silent Bob Strike Back,” “Hail, Caesar!,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Paul,” “Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey” and dozens more.  Television shows which featured Vasquez Rocks include “The Fugutive,” “The A-Team,” “MacGuyver” and perhaps most famous of all, the original “Star Trek” series.

Point Of No Return (1993)

The 1993 action film “Point Of No Return,” a remake of “La Femme Nikita,” was filmed in a variety of locations, including New Orleans, Washington D.C. and Southern California.

Maggie, played by Bridget Fonda, relocates to this “apartment” in Venice Beach. The actual building is not a residential property. The same location appeared as the Colonic Institute in the 1991 Steve Martin comedy, “L.A. Story.”

Maggie is instructed to blow up a hotel room. These scenes were filmed at a hotel in Century City, located next to the “Nakatomi Plaza” from “Die Hard.”

WarGames (1983)

The house where David, played by Matthew Broderick, lives in the 1980s film “WarGames” can be found in the Hancock Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.
