The 2016 Kevin Smith comedy “Yoga Hosers” was filmed in Southern California. The Eh-2-Zed store where the two Colleens, played by Harley Quinn Smith and Lily-Rose Depp, work can be found in Santa Clarita. The same location appears in John Carpenter’s “Christine.”

The girls attend school at the Terry Fox Preparatory School, which could be found on the grounds of The Fred C. Nelles School, a former juvenile corrections center in Whittier. The building seen in the film is the Chapel and Training Center. Despite heavy redevelopment in this area, with new homes and shopping plazas, the building still stands. Smith previously filmed elsewhere on these grounds for “Red State.”
The 1976 horror classic “Carrie,” directed by Brian De Palma, was filmed in Southern California. Early in the film, Carrie, played by Sissy Spacek, is seen walking home from school along E Santa Paula St toward N 6th St in Santa Paula, California. Most of the trees lining the street have since been removed.

A boy riding a bicycle begins to tease Carrie when she uses her telekinetic powers to knock the boy off his bike.
The home of Sue Snell, played by Amy Irving, could be found in Pacific Palisades. However, it has since been heavily remodeled and no longer appears anything like how it did in the film.

Carrie’s house has likewise long since been demolished. It could be found in Santa Paulo. The house next door, which could be seen in the background of some shots, still matches up.

Later in the film, Tommy, played by William Katt, is seen approaching from here as he arrived to pick up Carrie.
Several of the high school scenes were filmed at Palisades High School. The girls are seen playing volleyball on the basketball courts. The same school was used in the 2003 remake of “Freaky Friday,” “Spawn of the Slithis” and the TV series “Saved By The Bell,” as well as many more productions. The school was destroyed by wildfires in 2025.

Later in the film, Carrie’s classmates play a horrific prank on her as they head to a slaughterhouse to collect some pig’s blood. These scenes were filmed in the city of Vernon. The same building and mural appears in “Zabriskie Point” and the 1977 film “Angel City.”

The exterior gym scenes were filmed at the Hermosa Beach Community Center. While a few brief shots of the interior are seen in the film, all of the interior prom scenes were filmed on a set at Culver Studios (9336 Washington Blvd, Culver City, CA 90232).

The iconic shot of Carrie leaving as the gym is engulfed in flames was filmed here at the Hermosa Beach Community Center.
The 2005 film “The Skeleton Key,” starring Kate Hudson, was filmed in Louisiana. In the film, Caroline Ellis, played by Hudson, takes a job as a hospice caretaker and begins working at the Devereaux home, which is the central location of the film. The property is Felicity Plantation in Vacherie. The historical site is a sister property of St. Joseph Plantation and while St. Joseph’s has offered public tours, last we know of, they do not include visitation to Felicity Plantation. The house can be partially seen from the road, but it is mostly obscured by trees. The same property appeared in the films “12 Years a Slave,” “All the King’s Men” and “Mudbound,” as well as the TV series “Underground,” “Quarry,” “Queen Sugar” and the remake of “Roots.” It is located on the same road as St. Joseph Plantation, Evergreen Plantation and Oak Alley Plantation, all of which have appeared in numerous productions. The property shares the same address as St. Joseph Plantation, so be sure to use the GPS coordinates below if you want to identify the specific home.

The 1988 film “Earth Girls Are Easy” was shot in Southern California. The house of Valerie and Ted, played by Geena Davis and Charles Rocket, can be found in Northridge.
The 2001 Wes Anderson film “The Royal Tenenbaums” was filmed in New York. The Tenenbaum house can be found in the northern part of Manhattan, near Harlem.
The house from the 2016 Kevin Pollack film “The Late Bloomer” can be found near the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles. The house also appeared in the TV show “Southland.”
The 1986 Jim Jarmusch film “Down by Law” was primarily shot around New Orleans, Louisiana. The opening shot of the film, which is part of a montage showing the city, takes place at Cypress Grove Cemetery. The easiest way to reach this area is by entering at Canal St / City Park Ave. Once you’re in the cemetery, the paths inside have their own names as well. The scene was shot nearest to Live Oak / Myrtle. We’ve provided the GPS coordinates below. Here is where the hearse is parked in the opening shot.

The building that was at the corner has since been demolished, but the large pole, which is seen prominently in the scene, is still there. Zack sits next to this door, where Preston (Vernel Bagneris) offers him money to drive a car across town, which unbeknownst to Zack has a body in the trunk. We were unable to match up the angles seen in the film due to cars obstructing the area and workers coming and going from the building, but it is the same location.
Zack passes this intersection, where a police car is parked and begins pursuit.

The 2004 Clint Eastwood film “Million Dollar Baby” was shot around Southern California. Early in the film, Frankie, played by Eastwood, speaks with Father Horvak outside of this church, which can be found in Venice.

Scrap, played by Morgan Freeman, has dinner with Maggie, played by Hilary Swank, at the Broadway Diner. These scenes were filmed at the former Quality Cafe in Downtown L.A. The diner was a one-time staple of films, appearing in “Training Day,” “Ghost World,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “Another Day In Paradise,” “(500) Days Of Summer” “Seven,” “The Rules Of Attraction,” “What’s Love Got To Do With It,” “The Heartbreak Kid” and many more. However, it was not an actual restaurant open to the public. Instead it was used solely for filming. Unless the building was being set up for a production, most of the time it was closed up and locked by a large metal door covering the front windows. So catching a glimpse of it was rare. Sadly, it ceased to function as a filming location and was completely renovated in 2014. The interior of the property no longer bears any resemblance inside to how it appeared in so many films.

The home of Jordan Belfort, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, can be found inside the Chestnut Hill Estates in Oyster Bay, New York. The neighborhood is on a private road, which is not gated, but marked as private.
